The weather has afforded lots of bike rides - now if the days just weren't so short...

Over the last couple of months, I've been hearing all sorts of great stories of kids learning to ride their first pedal bikes, many as young as 3, all because they started on a Strider. That's awesome! Congratulations to all you Strider graduates out there - great job.

Despite being able to ride a pedal bike, Charlotte still loves to grab her Strider and tear it up. My daughter Charlotte is 3.5 years old and has only tried to ride a pedal bike without training wheels one other time, yet here she is riding for blocks and blocks at a time. She absolutely loved it. She was smiling and didn't want to stop riding. When she told her daycare provider that she rode a bike, she was jumping up and down and you could tell she was so proud.
The Strider bikes provide the foundation for riding - balance and control. Because Charlotte learned these skills on a Strider the transition to a pedal bike was pretty easy. After she got on the pedal bike, the only thing that was "unfamiliar" to her were the pedals. She didn't have to worry about falling over or steering - she knew how to handle that part of riding already. All she had to concentrate on was pedalling. It's so much easier to do things when there's less to think about! And making things easy is what the Strider bike does.

A couple other videos:

Quick Release Seat Clamps

**UPDATE**

Both are spoken for. Thanks for the interest. I'll do something like this in the future, so stay tuned.

I'll be getting two (2) quick-release seat binders mid-week. You can check 'em out here (but don't order - you'll pay shipping): http://bit.ly/aJLwmy. These allow for quick and easy seat height adjustments. Perfect for the families with multiple kids and only one Strider<gasp!>. Or for the kid who shares their Strider with friends. The quick release replaces the binder bolt that comes standard and is set-it-and-forget-it easy to use. </gasp!>

If you want one - or two - get in touch with me and you'll get free shipping. I want your review to be honest and accurately reflect your experience with me.

Here are some places you can leave a review:
Yelp: http://www.yelp.com/biz/adams-bike-shop-saint-paul

Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/pages/Adams-Bike-Shop/334852706916?ref=ts

Google Maps Search for Adam's Bike Shop

Thank you for your time!

Adam

Adam's Bike Shop is on Facebook

I set up a page on Facebook where you can join discussions, ask questions, share experiences and even buy stuff!

Follow this link http://bit.ly/aeGRvU to check us out!

We'd also like to see some of your pictures or videos. If your household is like ours, the costume has been picked out for weeks, but not before being changed several times.

This year, try something new....get your little one out a Strider when you go door to door. Fix a basket to the handlebars to carry the candy. Imagine the speed you would all cruise the neighborhood this Halloween. (Kids - that means more candy!) Plus, just think how cool a little princess or cow would look scooting along the sidewalk. If the front door allows, the kids wouldn't even have to get off the bike - "trick or treat!" and then turn and ride to the next one.

What color goes best with Halloween? I told her it was in the woods and that there would be other bikers, roots and rocks. She immediately said YES. We set a day and talked about trail etiquette until the day came.
Here's a map of the trail system. We hit the green loop in the upper right corner.

I didn't know what to expect. We were going to hit the beginner loop, which is pretty short - for me - and has a couple hills. What I wasn't ready for, was how excited and how fast Charlotte was on the trail. She LOVED it! We were jogging to keep up with her. The roots and rocks didn't slow her down one bit. She really enjoyed the downhills and the occasional push I gave her for the longer uphills. What's cool with the Strider bike is that I can trick her a bit. I "push" her by putting my hand on her back and she thinks I'm pushing, but I'm not really pushing all that much and she's still doing most of the work.
Initially I thought we'd make it about half way around the loop before she got bored or tired, but I was wrong! We made it the whole way, with one significant stop to allow a group of riders to pass.
After that it was back in the saddle and kicking up dust! When we finished she asked "Umm, dadee? Can we go 'gain?" Awesome! A quick check of the mileage reports .78 miles - way to go Charlotte!
Here are the pictures:

Bridges? I am an avid cyclist myself, with over 20 years of riding thus far. My father owns a bike shop in Duluth, MN, Twin Ports Cyclery. Naturally this was my first job and I had many roles throughout my years; sales, ordering, repair, ride leader, etc. I love bikes and I love seeing people ride bikes. Especially kids. So it felt natural for me to get into business selling Strider Bikes.

The site is new and still in process, but I intend to add videos, reviews, customer feedback, and event information, so if you want to keep in touch add this site to your favorite RSS reader, become a Follower or simply check back every so often. If you ever have any questions, let me know!

A little bit about Strider Bikes:
The Strider™ running bike teaches kids age 1-5 years old how to balance and steer a two-wheeler. The simple, thoughtful design offers them easy control and helps build their confidence. They will never need a tricycle and never need training wheels when they start out on a Strider™.
The Strider™ brand running bike gets kids started younger, adjusts with them as they grow, and keeps them riding longer and learning more through the unique frame design with integrated footrests and optional brake.
